His brothers, St. Cedd, St. Cynebil and righteous Caelin all became monks. A family of saints, these four men studied under the great sainted-hierarch and monk, Aidan of Lindisfarne. WebSt Chad's was sited in what was originally the Gun Quarter of Birmingham, with factories and workshops all around (Foster 47). Designed in a northern Germanic 13c.style quite unlike the very early nineteenth-century Georgian chapel it replaced, it was deliberately distinctive.
