In general, I'm a skeptic of those who claim huge differences in sound between DACs. However, the MOMBY measures so badly that I'm not surprised a properly-designed DAC like the SU-8 is an audible improvement. WebRinging is caused by non-flat phase or frequency response, thats why linear phase brickwall is the best filter, its only one with no audible ringing, extended treble and coherent transients. In effor to battle the ringing, the slow rolloff and minimum phase filters actually introduce real audible ringing into the audible frequency range.
